NGC4038

NGC4038 and NGC4039 represent a spectacular example of colliding ga;axies, resulting in significant star formation within the turmoil. This pair is often referred to as the Ringtail or Antennae and is located in the constellation of Corvus. NGC4038 also sports a super nova (SN2004gt) located as the middle star of the 3 closely spaced knots at the bottom. This image was taken at Chiefland during the Spring Partyt with the 10" Newtonian.
