Markarian's Chain

	Markarian's Chain describes a sequence of brighter galaxies that resides in the constellation of Virgo. The brightest ones are Messier objects M86 and M84 to the right side of the chain. Markarian was actually cataloging galaxies having unusually strong UV radiation emissions, including 8 within this chain. Please use the links to scan the larger versions of this image. This image is only 33 percent of full sized. A rollover of this image provides the galaxy labels to the brighter members.
