M95 M96

Updated: 2.7.10

M95 and M96 make a wonderful visual and photographic pair, situated close to each in the galaxy rich constellation of Leo. M95 is a classic Barred Spiral, although it has often been referred to as the Tie Fighter galaxy. Just starting to show at the bottom left corner is M105, an elliptical. Many faint galaxies are in the background, some fainter than 20th magnitude. This shot was taken from Chiefland's Astro Village with the 10" Newt at f/3!
