M8 - Lagoon

Updated: 5.22.05

This image represents just a portion of the Lagoon Nebula, M8, in Sagittarius. The combine used here is an RRGB, which short of an H-alpha shot, does well to highlight the many pillars, walls and dark clouds. 87 one minute shots were used in order to preserve the core and large dynamic range of this object. This shot was taken during the May new moon weekend at Chiefland.
