IC434 and B33

Updated: 11.25.03

The nebulosity in and around IC434 is both complex and beautiful, consisting of B33 (the Horsehead), NGC2024 (the Flame) and NGC2023 (the reflection nebula below IC434). The contrasts between reflection and emission components for both structure and colors is quite striking. This complex is located in the constellation of Orion, just below Alnitak, the left most star in the belt (and brightest star in the image).
